The 9-Minute Theory Is Blowing Our Minds
Have you heard of the 9-Minute Theory? It’s a parenting tactic that could do a ton to help erase some of that mom guilt so many of us feel.
The main gist? Instead of trying to do it all, parents should focus on three key interactions with their kids during the day:
The first three minutes after they wake up
The three minutes after they come home from school
The last three minutes of the day before they go to bed
According to the neuroscientist who came up with the 9-Minute Theory, these are the times of the day when parents can relate most closely to their kids or offer them some much-needed warmth or structure. Focusing on high quality conversation during these three key moments throughout your kids’ days can help you, as a parent who might feel guilty for not being with your kids 24/7, to remember that quality > quantity.

How to Save Money on Groceries
We bet plenty of you are dealing with the same thing: hungry, growing teens who are eating you out of house and home. The food…it just disappears. It’s like all we’re doing is either A) responding to “mom why don’t we have any good food” or B) making a meal outside of mealtime for a hungry kid.
And stocking the pantry gets expensive. Did you know: Retail food prices increased by 11% from 2021–2022, the largest increase the U.S. has seen in over 40 years. That’s bananas!
Want some tips on slashing the grocery bill to keep yourself sane and ensure you don’t need to refinance your house to get your kids through their next growth spurt? We loved these 6 tips for cost-cutting at the supermarket, especially the ones about DIY-ing some staples and cutting back on fancy drinks (guilty as charged).

All Parents Need to Hear This
This one is so important. Do you know for sure that your kids are aware of the serious dangers of fentanyl?
Dr. Scott Hadland, a teen addiction specialist, pediatrician, and head of adolescent medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, gave us a very real look at the world of fentanyl and drug use among teens.
It’s serious stuff, but we feel so much better being armed with information. Now, we know how to talk to our kids about this alarming reality: All pills, unless they come directly from a pharmacy, should be presumed to contain fentanyl.
Want to give it a listen? Check it out here and share the episode with another parent or caregiver—everyone with kids should really hear this.

Countdown to Mother’s Day: 11 days. Now might be a good time to tell your partner, family, or teenagers how you’d like to be celebrated. Because remember: Your family can’t read your mind, and there’s nothing wrong with telling them how you’d like to spend the day in your honor. You deserve to get what you want!
See you next week for a special Mother’s Day edition. Have a wonderful Wednesday! 💐
