Plus: How to model a healthy relationship
Hey, team. The Olympics might be over but we have decided to keep rigorously training for the thing we do best: embarrassing our kids with our outfit choices. Apparently one of us can’t pull off jorts? We’ll let you guess which one.
Beware of Scams Targeting College Students
Most of our teens grew up on the internet. But that doesn’t mean they’re immune to scams. Scammers will go after anyone, and, according to recent findings by the Better Business Bureau, that includes young adults just trying to get an education.
Get this: College students across the US have reported receiving emails claiming to be from their school’s financial department. If a student clicks on the link and logs in, those scammers get full access to their financial information…which could also be your financial information.
Here’s what you can do to ensure your kids don’t get scammed before they even make it to college orientation:
Teach them to be wary of any phone calls or emails asking for their financial information or social security number. It’s a matter of safety, much like encouraging them to wear their seatbelt or look both ways before crossing the street.
For a lot of teens, money and financial literacy is uncharted territory. So it’s important we don’t shame or scare them but rather create a safe space for them to come to us with any questions.

Humor Is a Good Parenting Tool
Dad jokes may just save us all? According to a new study led by researchers at Penn State, parents who lead with humor are much more likely to have a strong and lasting relationship with their children.
Here’s why: Humor can diffuse tension, promote creative problem-solving, and foster resilience for our kids. And raising your kids around humor will definitely make them more fun at the water cooler someday—it’s a genuine life skill!
And above all else, a family that prioritizes laughing and having fun will create beautiful memories. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you’re obviously hilarious…so congrats! You’re already on the right path.
How to Fight Off the Back-to-School Blues
So you blinked and summer is over? Tale as old as time. We all know the drill by now but still—getting back into the school routine is tough on everyone. Here are a few tips to make that transition as seamless as possible:
Start the sleep/wake up routine at least a week before school starts. That way it’s not such a rude awakening…literally!
Be organized! It’s easier said than done. But a clean room and some fresh notebooks can make a world of difference.
Ask open-ended questions. Instead of asking your child the classic, “How was school today?” try being more specific. “What did you learn today?” or “Did anyone say anything funny in class?” can provide for a more stimulating conversation.
This part, like so many things in parenthood, is temporary. One day we might even, dare we say, miss the back-to-school chaos? We’ll report back in a decade.
Kids model the relationships they see. If we want our kids to grow up to find a good partner (if that’s something they want!), it’s up to us to model what a loving, respectful, supportive, and fun relationship looks like. But the internet can help with that too!
Paralympian Hunter Woodhall and Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall set the standard for being your partner’s number one fan.
You know it’s ride-or-die when your partner is willing to be a human tripod.
This TikTok trend proves that a couple who can be weird together, stays together.
And not to toot our own horns, but 📯📯. We married well, and this podcast is proof.
Life is short. You’ll never look back and regret spending too much time with the people you love. This adorable and wholesome cousins sleepover trend is an amazing reminder of that. Teens and young adults across the world are surprising their grandparents by showing up to their house, snacks and sleeping bags in hand, for a big cousins slumber party. Every single one of these videos are so heartwarming and a reminder of how important family is—whether it’s blood relatives, chosen family, or a mix of both!
Love you fam! See you next week <3
